Student Life

Daily Schedule & Routines

At ISB, each day is intentionally designed to support both academic growth and social-emotional development. Across all divisions, our daily routines provide a predictable, nurturing structure that fosters focus, independence, and a sense of belonging.

In PreK, the day includes:

  • Morning Meeting & Storytelling
  • Choice Time / Learning Centers
  • Outdoor Exploration & Nature Play
  • Project Work & Inquiry Provocations
  • Creative Expression (Art, Music, Movement)
  • Community Circles
  • Rest & Reflection

In Elementary, students begin each day with Morning Meeting, grounded in Positive Discipline and Responsive Classroom practices. These meetings build classroom community and emotional regulation through greetings, sharing, mindfulness, and collaborative problem-solving.

Throughout the day, students engage in:

  • Core academics (literacy, math, science, social studies)
  • Daily Italian instruction
  • Creative Media and integrated technology
  • Movement breaks and outdoor play
  • Social-emotional learning and well-being routines
  • Reflective practices to build ownership of learning

Routines are thoughtfully embedded to promote self-regulation, transitions with ease, and opportunities for student voice. Whether through advisory, mindful moments, or active learning, our daily flow reflects ISB’s whole-child philosophy: children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and supported.

After School Activities

Extracurricular activities will be a key part of our offering. Some programs will be managed in-house, while others will be coordinated through ISB in collaboration with the local community.

To enrich our students’ experience our after-school program has been designed to help promote creativity, physical health, leadership, and personal growth. Each student can participate in two activities per week included in the school fees, with the option to join additional clubs and programmes for a small extra cost.

Afterschool activity options may include:

  • Creative Arts: Painting, Drawing, Drama Club, Music, Singing, and Crafts
  • Languages & Academics: Italian Intensive, Debate Club, Homework Support, and Language Enrichment
  • Sports & Movement: Football, Tennis, Yoga, and Team Sports
  • Wellness & Personal Development: Meditation, Mindfulness, and Leadership Skills

Our programme wants to ensure a balance between sportshands-on learningcreative expressionleadership development, and personal wellness, giving every child the opportunity to explore their passions, build new skills, and grow in confidence beyond the classroom.

Positive Discipline

Start Your ISB Journey

At ISB, our approach to behavior and relationships is grounded in Positive Discipline and Responsive Classroom practices. These frameworks prioritize respect, connection, and shared responsibility, helping students develop self-awareness, empathy, and social-emotional skills. We believe behavior is learned and teachable just like academics. Through proactive routines, clear expectations, and restorative conversations, we support students in making thoughtful choices and contributing to a safe, inclusive learning community.

Student Voice & Leadership

At ISB, we believe that students thrive when they are active participants in their own learning and in the life of the school. From the earliest years through secondary, we intentionally create structures and spaces for students to express their ideas, make choices, and lead with purpose.

Student voice is embedded in our day-to-day practices—from class meetings and goal setting to co-creating classroom norms and engaging in reflective dialogue. We treat students as capable individuals whose perspectives matter.

Leadership opportunities grow with students and may include:

  • Student Council Member: elected representatives who bring ideas, organize events, and represent their peers

  • Student Ambassador: supports new student transitions and represents the school during events or visits

  • Assembly Leader: helps plan and host weekly gatherings, sharing announcements, reflections, or performances

  • Club Leader: proposes, organizes, and runs student-initiated clubs and interest groups

  • Service Project Coordinator: leads a team in designing and implementing community service or sustainability initiatives

  • Mensa Sana Representative: promotes student well-being initiatives across the school, including mindfulness, movement, and mental health awareness

  • Learning Walk Partner: collaborates with teachers and leaders to reflect on the learning environment and school culture

  • Playground Leader: supports positive play and inclusion during recess and break times

We aim to nurture a generation of thoughtful, confident, and compassionate leaders who understand how to listen, advocate, and take action in their communities and beyond.
